Born in the NHS

So this mornin the Twiglet and I were watching the news, mostly to catch Carol - the weather girl - who the Twiglet loves - also essential viewing for planning what to do with your day.

Report preceeding fragrant weather girl is about Obamas health reform proposals.

Twiglet 'Why have those people got pictures of Barack Obama and why are they so angry?'

Me 'Cause he wants to do something and they don't like it?'

Twiglet 'What?'

Me 'Well you know when you're not very well and you go to the doctor and if you're really not well then you go to hospital and they look after you?'

Twiglet ' Aha'

Me (oversimplifying slightly) 'Well if you live in America then you have to pay to go to the doctor or the hospital'

Twiglet (face in expression of utter unbelief) 'So what about the poor people then?'

Me 'Well they can't go to the doctor'

Twiglet 'Well I think that the doctors should let the poor people in. Are there many poor people in America?'

Me 'About 46 million' (BBC figures I think)

Twiglet 'That's a lot'

So the five year old gets it. What's the Republicans problem?

Yours born in the NHS.
